Paramount, Los Angeles County
Paramount was created in 1948, when the neighboring dairy towns of Hynes and Clearwater merged and took the name of the boulevard that ran through both. It incorporated as a city in 1957. In the 1980s it became known for an effort to replace chain-link fences with white pickets and plant flowers along its streets, a campaign that changed the look of its neighborhoods.
